Ludovic T. - Front Office IT Developer
A graduate of EPU Nice-Sophia-Antipolis, Ludovic began his career working for a start-up in the USA. He then spent several years with an IT services company in Paris before joining the front office development team in 2005.
How would you describe your job?
"The job of a front-office developer involves a technical and a functional side. On the technical side, we develop and implement solutions that meet the needs of the front desk. We have to understand the various technologies available in order to be able to propose the most appropriate solutions, which answer our clients' needs most effectively. Parallel to this, we have to have a good understanding of our clients' jobs if we are to bring real value-added to the business. We are in regular contact with project managers who formalise user needs. The better we understand the needs of each business, the more we can offer the project manager in terms of new ideas and so develop properly optimised products."
What do you like in your job?
"It is the technical-functional cross-over that attracts me. I like working in an environment that's constantly moving, where you have to keep up to date with new technologies. At first, I concentrated on the technical side of things but as I gained experience I began to understand the needs of the different businesses and really visualise what the solutions that I was putting together were supposed to achieve. Now I understand what is at stake on the front office and I am no longer content to simply work on the purely technical issues."
Does any project stand out in your memory?
"The Data Centre project. I worked on it for several months. This project was designed to bring together all the data used by analysts, financial indicators, reports, published documents and it changed a lot as we went on. We developed the entire package in-house and continue to upgrade it in terms of functions, user-interface etc. In the end, what had started out as a tool exclusively for internal use was opened up to clients. That was real recognition of our work! "
